When the economy begins to suffer a little bit, the first industries that typically suffer are those of leisure and entertainment. Since Macau depends largely on these industries in order to expand their economy they are suffering with the economic turmoil around the globe.
CasinoWebScripts reporters mention that even though China has been relatively stable with some slowdowns here and there, Macau gets visitors from all over the world and many of those economies aren’t doing as good. When China loosened up traveling policies a large influx of visitors started pouring in from both Hong Kong and China, but there are also tourists who come in from the EU as well as the United States and South Korea. The United States and European Union are both suffering from an economic depression that has limited the amount of tourists from those areas and they could be part of the reason that less people are spending money in the tourist hub and less companies are planning to develop a casino in the area.
