Cyprus May be Getting Land-Based Casinos
Currently Cyprus does not allow brick-and-mortar casinos to exist within their country. They do however allow sports betting to occur as long as it is closely regulated and all of the laws are followed like they are supposed to be.
Cyprus is now dealing with a general election to find out who their new president is going to be. During the election both of the candidates have been making promises to try and get land-based casinos legalized.
The Cypriot economy is not doing very good, and one of the best ways to try and improve that situation is to make it legal to have actual casinos in the country. It still remains to be seen if outside casino owners would be allowed to come in and set up show in the country, but it is likely that they would be willing to allow casino developers to build within their country as long as they were willing to pay all of the license fees that go along with that building.
Cyprus is currently in a very delicate state, and hopefully after the election the new president will be able to turn the problem around and help get the economy to a stable level that can be counted on.
