Danish Online Gaming and Sports Betting Up 20% in 2014

The gambling regulatory authority of Denmark, Spillemyndigheden, has recently revealed a report regarding the results for online gaming in the country. It seems that gambling in Denmark is getting bigger and bigger, and operators who are looking to buy sportsbook software should keep an eye on what gamblers in Denmark prefer.
In 2014, Denmark’s internet gaming market grew no less than 20%, the market leader remaining state gaming monopoly Danske Spil. Online casino operators raked in 2.85 billion kroner ($403.7 million) in revenue, out of which sports betting generated 1.78 billion kroner, growing 29% in comparison to 2013.
Operators who want to buy sportsbook software should know that at this point in time, there are 29 licensed online gambling operators who offer services for the Danish gaming market, and 15 of them have already obtained sports betting licenses.
The Spillemyndigheden offers two types of gaming licenses: online casino licenses or betting licenses. The application cost for a license would be DKK 250,000 for either betting or online casino, or DKK 350,000 for both. Since 2010, operators were allowed to start online gaming sites in Denmark. Up until then, the only gaming company in Denmark was Danske Spil, which made it the gambling industry monopoly in the country.
Operators who want to buy sportsbook software can obtain a license from the Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, and cater to online gamblers who are residents of Denmark.
