Gibraltar Joins EU Online Gaming Trade Association
The Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association (GBGA) has recently become a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), the trade body which encompasses the gambling industry’s online operators established, licensed and regulated within the European Union. Gibraltar is preparing to face the upcoming tax regime introduced by the UK government which will request any gaming operator who offers gaming and betting services to UK residents to pay a 15 percent tax on gross gaming revenues, regardless of their location.
Gibraltar has become the first national member to join the EGBA in order to allow members of the industry to best represent Gibraltar operators’ interests on key aspects regarding customer protection, measures against problem gambling and money laundering within a fast-growing, competitive market.
EGBA officials have declared that they are pleased to cooperate with the GBGA, taking into consideration that Gibraltar offers a wide gaming and betting market and is looking forward to maintaining a properly regulated gambling system which sees its consumers’ protection and its high standard products and services as priorities.
