It is Official Online Gambling is Legalized in New Jersey
Most people saw this coming, but New Jersey has finally legalized online gambling. It was a bit of a battle to get Governor Chris Christie to allow it to happen. Originally he issued a conditional veto that forced legislators to make some changes to the bill before he would ever pass it into existence.
Now that they have altered the tax level on online casinos to 15% up from 20% and they have included a clause that forces casino operators to be reviewed after 10 years of operation he was more than willing to legalize online gambling.
Now that companies are free to develop a casino over the Internet it is time to wait for them to start coming out. Don’t expect any casinos in the next three months however, because the bill states that there can’t be any casinos opening within 90 days after the bill becomes active. The good news is that it also says they have to be up and running within 180 days of the bill going live, so New Jersey citizens should be seeing Internet casinos sometime this year.
