Japan Carries on With Land Based Casino Plans

As the 2020 Olympics approach, Japanese regulators are looking forward to developing the gaming industry in the country by creating new land based casinos. Now more than ever, lawmakers are doing their best to step up the casino plans which have already been brought up for discussion during the last few years. At this point in time, the legislation could be set to allow brick-and-mortar casinos not only in Japanese cities, but also in rural areas.
Recent versions of the proposal suggest that Japan will have a properly controlled gambling market in which illegal operations will not occur. In order for this to happen, the industry will be monitored by gaming inspectors who will make sure that all operations are legal and licensed. The casino proposal is expected to be brought forward to the Parliament before the end of this year. Several world-renowned operators who also open online casinos expressed interest in developing land based gaming resorts in Japan before the 2020 Olympics start.
Our gaming insiders have information that Tokyo and Osaka could be the first locations where casinos will be constructed. Besides that, a limited number of locations around the country will also house gambling establishments during the first phase of development, with many more being expected during the next years. Even if operators are not yet allowed to open online casinos in Japan, this country is expected to become a lucrative market for land based operators. These entrepreneurs will compete with Macau casinos, which are considered the most profitable ones in the world.
