Why Mississippi Will Not Have Online Gambling

There are a number of different reasons that Mississippi didn’t go for online gambling as favorably as New Jersey did according to CasinoWebScripts.
The very first reason is also one of the most dramatic reasons, Mississippi is doing much better than New Jersey is financially. They have a much smaller amount of state debt and a lower unemployment rate. With stats like that they really don’t need the gambling in order to keep the state going like New Jersey does and without any real support for gambling in the state there isn’t a reason to even think about pursuing it. While a small group of people were hopeful that online gambling would happen it is highly unlikely that it will.
The second reason is a strong opposition to gambling by religious groups in Mississippi. Since the groups have a stronger presence in Mississippi than they do in New Jersey casino developers have a much harder time getting the support that they need for the bill. The groups don’t want any part of it and most politicians understand that, on top of that the additional revenue to the state simply is not enough of an incentive to get the bill passed.
