Why Ohio Has Been Opening Up More Casinos

More casinos seem to be opening up within the United States each year and that is putting a strain on the entertainment industry in Ohio. By opening up additional casinos Ohio is hoping that they will be able to convince more people to stay within the state when they spend their money, instead of heading to bordering states such as New York and Pennsylvania in order to get their excitement.
There are now going to be seven different casinos within the state of Ohio and they will be positioned near all of the major cities.
This is a smart tactic by the state because they are making it even less desirable to travel all the way out of the state to go to a casino when residents could simply drive a short distance to a local casino. The only real problem with this tactic is that the additional casinos are cannibalizing one another.
As more casinos are added to the equation the existing casinos lose out on a little more business and that makes it harder for each of the casinos to keep running. The Hollywood casino has tried to minimize the effects of this by converting many of their slots into room for more poker tables which many casinos don’t bother to focus on because they aren’t as profitable. It is moves like this from some of the casino developers that will help keep the industry alive within the state.
