Spain Introduces New Online Slot Games and Exchange Betting Regulations
Entrepreneurs who seek to buy slot games for online casinos in Spain should know that the Spanish government has decided to approve new regulations regarding online slots and exchange betting. The local regulator for online gambling, Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has revealed the information regarding regulation approval in the official Government gazette.
After the public consultancy which took place earlier this year in March, DGOJ took notice of several suggestions regarding the improvement of the local gaming industry, including aspects regarding operators who buy slots games and observations on exchange betting. The DGOJ took into consideration the suggestions that can bring added value to the current online gambling market in Spain.
The Ministry explained that the new orders were published in an effort to enrich and refine the gambling regulatory system in the country. By introducing amendments to the current law, the Ministry expects to strengthen the gaming market. More than that, the new regulations would create an environment in which both operators who buy slot games and online players would engage in activities in a more responsible and safe manner.
The impact of the new regulations would create a market that would also help prevent fraud and would fight against underage gambling, while also increasing revenue for the state coffers. Gaming insiders said that the regulation could take effect after 6 months since the ministerial order was published. Thus, exchange betting and slots games operations could go live by January 1, 2015.
Entrepreneurs who want to buy slot games should know that until the publication of the ministerial order, online slots and exchange betting were prohibited in Spain. Up to now, the Spanish market has proved its strength by offering sports betting and online poker to players. More than 70 gambling companies are already operating in Spain.
