Asian Gambling Market Considered Worldwide Leader
Thanks to millions of Chinese gamblers, the Asian gaming market has succeeded in becoming the epicenter of the worldwide gambling industry. Chinese lottery revenue figures recently revealed by the Ministry of Finance unveil the immense success of gambling activities in the region, with lottery sales that hit no less than 251.6 billion yuan ($41.2 billion) during the first ten months of the current year.
The lottery industry in the country increased by a whopping 19.2 percent compared to the same period of time last year. The ministry added that the increase in revenues was made possible due to several promotions offered by Chinese operators, including new lottery products going on sale or promotions on quiz-style games. Lottery operators collected 27.18 billion yuan from sales in October, a 26.2 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
The lottery is not the only Chinese gambling activity which generates record revenues yearly. The region of Macau in China has also succeeded in becoming the most profitable gaming hub in the world, managing to collect revenue last year six times larger than that of Las Vegas. Macau is the only region in China where casino gambling activities are allowed, but eight unregulated casino boats also leaving from Hong Kong every night to welcome gaming enthusiasts aboard. These casino boats sail on international waters and a room onboard is three times cheaper than a hotel room in Macau. If China will allow online gambling in the near future, operators who will start an online casino in the region will most surely hit the jackpot.
